The Belfry Theatre 57th season, 2021-22
Hamilton County Theatre Guild proudly announces The Belfry Theatre’s 57th season for 2021-22 in Noblesville.
There are five shows -- four shows in The Belfry’s upcoming regular season and one Apprentice Players summer youth production -- all at larger venues, including Noblesville First United Methodist Church and at The Auditorium at The Annex at Ivy Tech in Noblesville.

Cheaper by the Dozen
“Cheaper by the Dozen,” a comedy, directed by Carla Crandall of Noblesville, will be Oct. 21-31, at Noblesville First United Methodist Church. Based on a true story, the play tells the account of the Gilbreth family whose inventor father, known for bringing better efficiency to factories, keeps his family of 12 children running just as efficiently. This play is told from the point of view of two of his children reflecting on the last few months before the death of their father, who was preparing the family for his imminent departure (but most of his children were unaware of the fact). The play is an extremely funny, heart-warming, and family-friendly tale. Auditions will be 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 22 and 23 at The Belfry Theatre, 10690 Greenfield Ave., Noblesville. Cast of 16. The Dining Room
“The Dining Room,” a comedy/drama, directed by new Belfry director Diane Wilson of Carmel, will be January 21 - 30, at The Switch Theater, Ji-Eun Lee Music Academy, 10029 East 126th Street, Fishers, Indiana.
The play is a comedy of manners set in a dining room where a dozen-and-a-half scenes from different households overlap and intertwine. Actors change roles, personalities and ages with virtuoso skill as they portray a wide variety of characters, from little boys to stern grandfathers and from giggling teenagers to Irish housemaids. The Lilies of the Field
“The Lilies of the Field,” a comedy/drama directed by Linnea Leatherman, will be March 18-27, at The Auditorium at The Annex at Ivy Tech.
When traveling African-American handyman Homer Smith (Sidney Poitier starred in the 1963 film “Lilies of the Field”) stops by a farm in rural Arizona, he is welcomed by a group of Roman Catholic nuns who have emigrated from Germany. Realizing that the farm needs a lot of work, Homer takes on a number of repair projects for the women, who are led by the headstrong Mother Maria. Impressed by Homer's kindness and strong work ethic, the nuns come to believe that he has been sent by God to help build them a chapel. Cast of nine. Play by F. Drinking Habits
”Drinking Habits,” a comedy, directed by Nancy Lafferty of McCordsville, will be June 24-July 3, at The Auditorium at The Annex at Ivy Tech. In this hilarious comedy, two sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent’s doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail as they go undercover as a nun and priest. Accusations, mistaken identities and romances run wild in this laugh-out-loud farce where spirits and secrets are spilled. Cast of eight. Frozen Jr.
The Belfry Theatre’s Apprentice Players youth production will be Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” musical, directed by James H. Williams of Fishers, July 28-31, at The Auditorium at The Annex at Ivy Tech. Unlike other years for the youth, which alternate years from 5-13 and 13-20, the “Frozen Jr.” production will open auditions to youth ages 5-18. Music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, plus five new songs written for the Broadway production. A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure and plenty of humor, Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!
